Once, there was a caterpillar He knew not, what he must do But his quest would taper from many generations of caterpillar As he embarked on a journey Transferring information from caterpillar to caterpillar Absorbing the world and its fruits The hungry caterpillar made its way For the energy could not be stopped As his momentum of traveling Was more than one could imagine What could he do What could this caterpillar do The caterpillar made its way The hungry caterpillar made its way Inching through the wood Twigs and leaves Sticks, small Through his miniature world Crawling through time and space The hungry caterpillar made its way You can't stop me, said the caterpillar For his quest would require the strength of Two-three king-sized caterpillars Not a small-sized caterpillar but a king-sized one Don't go inching after me I will be far too gone The caterpillar made its way The hungry Caterpillar He decided that he had a taste for delicious fruit As he ventured forth into the wood
3.
The hungry caterpillar was hungry And he required sustenance Sustenance beyond the sustenance of regular-sized caterpillars The caterpillar knew that the fruits would be enough for him Hello delicious fruits I require your energy I require to take thy in The delicious fruits were not receptive to this request Why should we let you eat all of us This makes no sense The hungry caterpillar looked surprised I will eat every last one of you, said the caterpillar The delicious fruits gazed in horror They stood no chance against the hungry caterpillar
4.
So the caterpillar made his way He traveled beyond the land of the delicious fruits Into the valley of a moth Why have you come to my domain, said the moth Hello Mr. Moth, for I am only a traveling caterpillar The moth gazed down at Mr. Caterpillar, bewildered at his presence Caterpillar, you travel this far to see me Nonsense, said Mr. Caterpillar Nonsense said the moth You have came for my services, haven't you The caterpillar stood, petrified For this is why you have sought me, said the moth Umm said Mr. Caterpillar I'm not sure what you're suggesting I think it's clear, said the moth The caterpillar gathered his things, collected his thoughts Mr. Moth, I must be leaving now I think our work here is done No problem said Mr. Moth You'll be back on your way home, I presume Perhaps, said Mr. Caterpillar under his breath Perhaps, I shall be back on my way home You really should be going now, said Mr. Moth Why's that, said Mr. Caterpillar Aren't you hungry Mr. Caterpillar Mr. Moth flew away, never to be seen again
5.
For Mr. Caterpillar Needed more food to fulfill his quest He traversed onward Beyond to another land of delicious fruits The delicious fruits watched the caterpillar as he entered their domain With a careful gaze, as he inched forward Inch after inch They studied his movements Why hello delicious fruits Have you come to greet me, said Mr. Caterpillar Mr. Caterpillar, we have no interest in what you are here for The fruits seized Mr. Caterpillar They all climbed to him and held him up in the air We must sacrifice him He will be the one Mr. Caterpillar was afraid and distraught Please let me go The delicious fruits hoisted him up Into a nest A nest, tall and beyond his size To the great bird Who was not in her nest at the moment
6.
The great bird's nest Mr. Caterpillar was bound As he lay in the nest he looked around to see Twigs twine fuzz I must get out of here said Mr. Caterpillar For the great bird will make me Its dinner With this sentiment he knew that he had to escape to complete his journey The great bird's children were sleeping in the center of the nest Mr. Caterpillar knew that he must be quiet Tipping each toe He inched onward and onward Creeping past the babies of the great bird For I am very frightened, thought Mr. Caterpillar I never meant to be in this situation Mr. Caterpillar wondered if he would make it out alive As Mr. Caterpillar made his way to the edge of the nest He peered over its edge Gazing down to what looked like an abyss The great bird could be heard in the distance Flapping its giant wings Soaring through the skies There wasn't much choice Mr. Caterpillar would need to make the jump And Mr. Caterpillar fell through the air Down down down Into the depths Of what was below
7.
Mr. Caterpillar Mr. Caterpillar awoke As he had passed out during his fall He looked around to see that he was still flying through the air Soaring downwards Into what felt like A forever hole I will surely not survive this fall, thought Mr. Caterpillar Mr. Caterpillar was caught in an illusion as he was falling The colors of the world bleeding past him It would be as if he could hear and see all of the sounds of the land Every blade of grass Every ant Every fruit For this did not comfort Mr. Caterpillar as he fell to his doom Please, thought Mr. Caterpillar Let me escape this treacherous death Mr. Caterpillar was falling closer and closer to the ground Out of the corner of his eye Another insect swooped by And caught him When Mr. Caterpillar opened his eyes He was met by a lonely beetle
8.
Your wise words Are beyond my understanding said Mr. Caterpillar The lonely beetle had a hard shell He was carrying Mr. Caterpillar on his back Trotting along the Earth Making its way To an unknown destination Where are you taking me Said Mr. Caterpillar to the lonely beetle Onward We travel onward, said the lonely beetle The caterpillar laid Exhausted from his journey I only wish to go home You are far from home, said the beetle The Caterpillar and the lonely beetle Made their way Onward The tall grass made the environment and atmosphere dark around them Mr. Caterpillar fell into a dream And the lonely beetle carried him onward I will keep you safe Mr. Caterpillar, said the lonely beetle I will keep you safe for all eternity The caterpillar shut his eyes As they disappeared into the fog
9.
The caterpillar had arrived at his destination He awoke upon the beetle's back And turned to him and said Mr. Beetle I must leave you now The lonely beetle and Mr. Caterpillar gazed at each other for a moment For all the help you've been given Mr. Caterpillar Do you owe me any thanks Not really, mumbled the caterpillar The caterpillar's mouth opened wide Baring several large teeth He transformed And consumed the beetle The world And all of its fruits
